July 18, 2007 - This powerful and interesting music production program for the PSP has three basic modules, one for creating sequences, one for modulating the sounds and samples, and a third for looping and putting the track together. It also has a second less powerful sequencer. There is a huge amount of customization, everything you expect, including pitch bending, time-shifting, and envelope mapping. Considering this is all done on a PSP, this is amazing - but also amazingly hard to learn. Don’t fret though, it comes with a tutorial that is actually helpful and not a waste of time. There are several screens to switch between (it’s good to have functionality), but since the screen is small, one finds himself switching between different views much more often than when using music software on a PC.
One might think they might skimp on the samples, but the disc is chock full of different sounds, drum kids, and other instruments geared towards creating hip hop or other electronic music. Like many audio programs, the learning curve on this one is steep - especially when factoring in the inevitable visibility issues that arise when editing complex sequences on a small screen.
