T.I. made a surprise visit to Harambee Charter School in West Philadelphia on June 11. He used his celebrity to urge kids to stay in school and not mimic what they see in hip hop videos. T.I.P. told the kids, “Aint nothing lame, aint nothing punkish about being smart. Aint nothing punkish about being 25,26, 28 and never had a run in with the law. That don’t make you a punk, man. That makes you a winner.”
Being a misguided youth himself, TI felt a strong desire to urge kids to understand that making it ‘out the hood’ was something to strive for. As always, he believed that if he could get only one person to listen and make a difference, then his job would be accomplished.
