I get the same feeling from this project that I do from crab rangoon. Its warm feeling, and its in my tummy. The Urban Concept project in South London is attempting to take a bite out of gun violence by appealing to the young adults and teenagers involved in gang violence through a video and music campaign.Called Don’t Trigger, this is a 50 minute documentary composed of music videos intertwined with footage of those affected by gun violence. The songs on the album created in the campaign were all written with the same message in mind. The campaign was first launched by mothers and other relatives of victims of gun violence in London City Hall. After the showing one mother of a young victim, Yvette Bryson-Graham, commented, “We never know what will reach the young people but music is one of their inspirations and this campaign should help and I hope it helps.” It’s nice and fresh to hear that hip-hop is being used to portray these messages, and also that press coverage is publicizing it. I have the same hope that hip-hop will help get the message across.
