Slum Village

Contributed by Alex Viard on 6/15/07

Hailing from Detroit’s Conant Gardens, Slum Village has been a hip hop tradition since they debuted as Baatin, T3, and Jay Dee aka J Dilla (R.I.P.) on their fabled Fantastic, Vol. 1 (1997). With a revolving door of members and labels, the Motor City mainstays have received love from listeners, artists (Kanye West, D’Angelo, Busta Rhymes, etc.), and even Chevy.

After blessing the dropmagazine.com launch party with an outstanding performance at Ann Arbor’s Blind Pig, the duo of T3 and Elzhi took some time out with dropmagazine.com to talk Dilla, D12, Detroit, and everything else you wanted to know.
