The most interesting part of this story is where the allegations are coming from. Cashun, the fake gay rapper ousted as not actually being a rapper, alleges that he has Russel Simmons’ Blackberry, which holds secret and “steamy” messages between him and another man. This screams phony!”Cashun” is only a gay rap persona created by Ivan Matias and portrayed by Jason Herndon. This story reads like a bad blaxploitation Cyrano De Bergerac rewrite, with Herndon playing the face of Cashun and Matias chillin with the real lyrics in the background. Everything exploded when Kimora Lee Simmons of Baby Phat Records almost signed him. Their short-lived fame unraveled when Herndon tried to take credit for the whole persona’s fame and Matias spoke up.
In any case, Herndon has resurfaced with evidence of Russel Simmons living a “gay lifestyle” from a blackberry phone that I guess he stole. Maybe Simmons didn’t put a passcode on it, but most blackberry’s have a passcode to enter in order to get to messages and data, if input incorrectly enough times the phone will wipe itself clean and destroy all messages so… this whole story is probably wack.
