Rev. Run to Receive “BMI Icon” Award at BMI’s 2007 Urban Awards Show for having “a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers.” Most of this influence of course comes from his work with Run DMC. The group is noted as being one that paved the way for Hip-Hop’s amazing commercial success. Rev. Run has had success lately with his reality show, “Run’s House” and also plans on doing a joint project with Kid Rock (what?). Other recipients of this honor have been legends like James Brown, Isaac Hayes, and Al Green. The invitation only event is scheduled for September 7th. I’m sure I’ll be getting my invitation in the mail any day now.
