Snoop Dogg

The Australian government has denied Snoop Dogg entry into the country most likely stemming from his recent marijuana and gun convictions. According to sources, government officials say Snoop, “isn’t the sort of bloke” they want in Australia.

This is not the first time Snoop has dealt with problems entering foreign lands. The rapper ran into similar problems last month in the U.K. when he was denied a visa to enter the country. His unsuccessful attempts to rectify the decision led him to cancel his U.K. tour with Diddy. Snoop was scheduled to co-host this weekend’s MTV Australian Video Music Awards, but these plans will obviously be canceled as well.

Kevin Andrews, the Australian Prime Minister, spoke about Snoop’s denial into the country on a Sydney radio station saying, “The reality is…he was given a warning the last time, he has a whole string of convictions, and, just two weeks ago I was told he was convicted on a number of charges again and sentenced to three years’ imprisonment on two, and three years’ imprisonment on another, with five years’ probation and a suspended sentence.”

A spokeswoman for Andrews added that Snoop had previously been given a warning during his last visit to Australia in February, with the Department of Immigration cautioning him that any future convictions could jeopardize any future entry into the country.

The spokeswoman went on to say, “Since that time he has been convicted of drug and firearm offenses, which has effectively caused the minister to be particularly reluctant to provide a visa for him.”
