Aug 10, 2007 - Starting at midnight, August 12th, Fox Searchlight Pictures will issue and open casting call for the Notorious B.I.G. biopic, Notorious.
Prompted by a prolonged, fruitless search to find someone who captured the legendary rappers “stature…swagger” and “sensibility,” any talented actor with a weight problem, or down to gain some significant weight will be able to submit audition videos online for the film. Originally, Forest Whitaker was considered for the role, but his ripe old age of 46 was enough cause for the producers to reconsider.
The Associated Press reports that it will now be directed by Men of Honor director George Tillman, with a script co-written by B.I.G. biographer Cheo Hodari Coker and 1996′ Get On The Bus writer Reggie Rock Bythewood. Notorious will be co-produced by Wallace’s mother Voletta Wallace, along with his two former managers Mark Pitts and Wayne Barrow.
Production is expected to begin this fall, and all video submissions can be submitted online via www.foxsearchlight.com/notorious or www.biggiecasting.com (both urls link to the same site).
