A Porn company, Kick Ass Pictures, announced that they are going to release an adult film called Nappy Headed Hoes. The company is attempting to profit from the racist remarks made by former radio personality, Don Imus, about the Rutgers Women’s basketball team after their loss in this year’s NCAA national title game. The company says that they are releasing the DVD to suport the idea that though Imus’ comments were racist, they should be backed by the first amendment.
Kick Ass Pictures President, Mark Kulkis, comments that, “We see this as a free speech issue. As an adult media company, we’re especially defensive of free speech. Don Imus is a loudmouth and perhaps a bigot; however, CBS Radio was hypocritical of hiring Imus to be blunt and outspoken, then firing him for the same reason. Fellow broadcast personalities, Ann Coulter and Pat Robertson spew anti-gay slurs, yet they are not fired by their networks.”
The porn company states that $1 from each sale of their DVD will go into a retirement fund for Imus. “If Imus doesn’t prevail, then there’s a good chance he’ll need some help with his retirement fund,” said Kulkis. “If he doesn’t choose to accept the money we collect, then we’ll donate it to the United Negro College Fund.”
According to ballerstatus.com, African American adult film producer Kim Hicks, says that the film is racist. “It’s important for the African American community to know that — although we as adult film producers make it a point to go as close to the edge of the cliff without falling off, this DVD…has truly fallen deep into the pit of full exploitation.”
