Ever heard of a Scion? Of course you have, because Toyota’s been pumping their Scion brand to the hip hop community through concerts and partnerships with independent artists and labels (ie RJD2 and Definitive Jux). Microsoft is jumping on this bandwagon, introducing the “Live at The BBQ” Concert series. These concerts will have some heavy hitters including Mos Def, Common, Lil Jon, UGK, Collie Budz, Clipse, Lupe Fiasco, David Banner, Joel’ Ortiz, E-40, and Chamillionaire.”‘Live At The BBQ’ is helping to bring hip hop back to a golden age where records were produced and iconic artists rose directly out of their local communities,” says Bun B. I’d like to think its about the music, but this is about the slow selling Zune finding a place to survive in an iPod world. Maybe that’s just the cynic in me, or maybe I’m just upset because there’s no Detroit show. If you are in LA, Chicago, or NY, check this out for some good tunes and some good eats.
