This is a suit over copyright infringement (the best kind of suit). These stars, among others, are suing the 40/40 Club because their songs were apparently played without any royalties being paid to them. The suit was brought forth by BMI, and although Jay-Z is not named, he is one of three owners of the club. Even though Pharrell Williams has worked with Jay-Z before, he’s also seeking compensation for the song “Touch.” R. Kelly’s song “Thoia Thoing,” is also named for being played and not paid for.
