At the City Council meeting in City Hall on Wednesday, Gloria Carter (aka Momma Hov) was honored for her ‘outstanding contribution to the community’. Queens Councilman Thomas White Jr. sponsored the ceremonial recognition of Gloria Carter saying, “It is truly an honor and a blessing. You’ve done wonderful things.” Carter overseas the Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund, a college-focused charity created in 2003 to help those who may not have the opportunity for higher education. In 2005, she and others from her organization went to Houston to help distribute clothing, food and toiletries to displaced Katrina victims.by David Dennis & Robby Uppal
