NAACP N Word Funeral

The NAACP held a symbolical funeral in Detroit Monday morning to bury the ‘N’ word once and for all. A horse and carriage were commissioned to pull the empty pine casket along as thousands watched. The NAACP hopes this will “end the use of the derogatory word by everyone.” This funeral was part of a larger convention being held in Detroit this week. Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and Michigan Governer Jennifer Granholm had some stock remarks on the subject as they spoke to the crowd. There was no specification if this funeral was for the “er” or “a” variation of the ‘N’ word or both. The distinction makes all the difference to younger generations, but the activists behind this movement seems to clump it all together.
