Don Imus

CBS has fired Don Imus and cancelled his national, syndicated radio show, “Imus in the Morning.” The firing comes a day after MSNBC announced that the network will terminate its simulcast of the radio show. CBS initially served Imus a two-week suspension for his racist and sexist remarks he made on his radio show concerning the Rutgers University Women’s Basketball Team after their loss in this year’s NCAA national championship game against Tennessee. Imus referred to players on the Rutgers team as “nappy-headed hoes,” during his show on April 4th. Following a flurry of criticism and uproar from around the country, Imus appeared on Rev. Al Sharpton’s radio show to apologize for the remarks he made claiming that, “Our agenda is to be funny and sometimes we go too far. And this time we went way too far.”
