Here at drop, we are sick of reading album reviews that rip apart an album - deservedly or not - and then give it a 7/10. It just doesn’t seem to add up, so we decided to set the “Average” bar at 5.0/10. When an album is “Average” it means that it is respectable, but not really remarkable in any way. This isn’t a bad rating, but there is a lot of room for improvement… or in other words its average (go figure).

Below is the scale that we use to apply ratings to albums. While there will always be disagreements and varying perspectives when analyzing subjective entities like hip hop albums, we hope that this will help keep everyone on the same page.
