At Club Zen in Trinidad, Akon’s performance on April 12 was a little more than risqué; 15 year old Dannah Alleyne was permitted into the club underage and was part of a characterized impromptu dance competition announced by Akon. While a trip to Africa was ‘announced’ for the winner, the contestants found out that a public dry-humping session with Akon was the actual prize. The young girl who won stated, “I got carried away. I started to dance as well, but I never thought it was going to be like that. I was shocked. My head was hitting the floor.” In response, Trinidadian prime minister, Patrick Manning closed the club and other officials in Trinidad have called for Akon to be banned from further public performances on the island. Companies that sponsor Akon like Verizon have terminated their relationship with him. Akon has also been removed as an opening act on the Gwen Stefani tour, of which he was an opening act. Don’t feel bad for the Kon-man though, as he recently made an appearance on ‘American Idol’ performing one his hit songs.
