50 CentSeptember 14, 2007 - This past September 11 was a history making day in hip hop. It was the ‘Clash of the Titans’ as BET put it. The G-Unit General 50 Cent was going toe-to-toe with the Louis Vuitton Don Kanye West. It was Curtis against Graduation. 50 had talked a huge game and really tried to promote his album, he even went on record to say that if Kanye out sells him, he would retire. Even though it was a publicity stunt since both artists labels are owned by the same parent company - Universal, it still made things interesting. But after projected sales show 50 Cent 200,000 copies behind Kanye, the man who got shot 9 times wants one more chance. He retracted his statement and went on Angie Martinez’ Hot 97 radio show and blamed the albums second place status on Interscope Records.

50 said, “To be honest the process of selling this record hasn’t been fun. I’m happy with the performance but I’m not happy with the set up. We had conference calls and after we created this plan, nobody actually had a plan.” 50 also issued a warning to Def Jam, claiming he would release a new album every time the label had a big release. He said, “Hypothetically, if I came in under Kanye West, I would release a new album every time Def Jam had a priority. I would release a record verses every one of their top priorities.”

50 also stated that he was finished with Interscope and after releasing his next album he would fulfill his contractual obligations and be done with the company, “I’ll release my next album and then I’m a free agent.”
